Anvaya is a Sanskrit word that speaks to connection, continuity, and meaningful relationship. It reflects a belief that durable progress in education does not come from one-size-fits-all solutions, but from thoughtful engagement with people, place, and purpose.

Anvaya Advisory is led by Mahati Tonk, whose work is grounded in experience inside public education systems and a deep respect for the human dimensions of leadership and change. She brings over a decade of experience spanning system-level strategy, planning, and operations, and is known for helping leaders bring clarity and alignment to complex work.

Previously, Mahati led strategic planning for Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the nation’s third-largest school district, and served as an authorizer at the State University of New York Charter Schools Institute. Before transitioning into public education, she was a Vice President at BlackRock.

She holds degrees in psychology, public administration, and educational leadership, and is an alum of the Broad Residency and Education Pioneers. She is also a parent of children who have attended public schools in both Miami and Princeton, New Jersey where she currently resides.
